Fluoride ions form a blue ternary complex with fluorine reagent and lanthanum nitrate in acetate buffer medium at pH 4.1. The color intensity is proportional to the fluoride ion concentration. Fluoride (F-) is quantitatively determined at a wavelength of 620nm.
